Supplement for Osteoarthritis

A new supplement for osteoarthritis sufferers but will it the miracle they claim?

Supplement for Osteoarthritis

Supplements for osteoarthritis are big business but do they work?

I do believe some supplements can be beneficial in relieving osteoarthritis. But excuse me for being skeptical about this new supplement for osteoarthritis that was heralded onto the market this week.

This new supplement for osteoarthritis is called Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM® and is apparently going to give fast pain relief and improve our flexibility and all in about a week.

“Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM® is a joint supplement made of natural eggshell membrane, a naturally occurring source of the bioactive compounds found in joints and connective tissues. This thin layer of super-strong connective tissue is beneath every eggshell, though not part of the edible egg, and protects the egg inside the shell. NEM® is an innovative dietary ingredient with all the essentials for maintaining healthy joints and connective tissues. It contains a high concentration of protein and moderate quantities of glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid and collagen. Combined, these ingredients help support the structure of joints, encourage nutrient flow around joints, aid in lubrication in joint tissues and improve skin strength and elasticity.”

They then go on to tell us that this new supplement for osteoarthritis will:

“Using Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM®, athletes and health-conscious individuals of all ages can experience a reduction in joint pain and an improvement in joint flexibility. Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM® begins to work within seven to ten days of use, as opposed to most supplements that require a twice-daily dose and begin to take effect after an average of 30 days. Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM® addresses various joint and connective tissue disorders including runner’s knee, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout and fibromyalgia.”

It’s the miracle we have all been waiting for! They say that

“While Egcel 5 Joint Health is clinically proven, it is not yet FDA approved”

So where is this clinical proof that this supplement for osteoarthritis actually works? I checked out the website and their ‘scientific proof”. They say they have published this trial but don’t say where. It doesn’t seem to be in any good journals (you can publish your research yourself but that doesn’t make it good science!) There is no link to the actual research, the methodology is not shown so we don’t know if the study was well done by a decent researcher, there is not even an outline as to who was tested for what type of pain and I could go on picking holes in their scientific proof for ever but I am bored so I will stop there!

So before you rush out and buy this wonder supplement for osteoarthritis please wait until it is at least FDA approved so you know it is safe. Personally I will be spending my money on something more proven by good science that has been published in a reputable scientific journal.

Have you used Egcel 5 Joint Health with NEM®? Is it a good supplement for osteoarthritis? If you have leave a comment to let us know if it worked. Show me the proof….

    G’Day! Dr Sophie,
Maybe a little off topic, however, A number of herbal, botanical and other natural products are promoted as osteoarthritis supplements and different sources make different recommendations concerning the effectiveness and safety of these products. Over the years, there have been many separate studies concerning osteoarthritis and omega 3 fatty acids, green lipped mussel extract, glucosamine and chondroitin, SAM-E and MSM. All of which showed at least some positive results.
    Regards

Hi there, I agree some of these are supplements that I recommend. In my Kindle books I go through the supplements I recommend and give some advice on which might be the best for people to try. They will give you loads of other information as well. At only $2.99 they won’t break the bank either!

  3. For those who suffer from osteoarthritis, it is important that you have enough Vitamin C in your diet. Medical research has shown that Vitamin C reduces pain in osteoarthritis patients and helps prevent it in young people. You can get Vitamin C from many fruits, such as oranges, or you can take a supplement.
