Best Food for Arthritis – chocolate!

Best food for arthritis is chocolate

Chocolate is the new best food for arthritis!

This has got to be some of the greatest news this year. We will soon be able to claim we are eating chocolate as it is the best food for arthritis!

A new type of chocolate has been developed which contains high levels of the anti aging flavonal molecules. These are the anti oxidants I wrote about in this article on the worst and best food for arthritis a few weeks ago. They are found in high quantities in fruit and veg and they have anti-inflammatory effects. Add this to the endorphin effect which makes chocolate a mood enhancer and pain killer and we are in super food territory!

Click on the link and read the full report from Health Hub on MSN on how this new chocolate is going to be the new best food for arthritis.

So that’s official- the best food for arthritis is CHOCOLATE!

OK perhaps not the best food for arthritis as it doesn’t contain all the vitamins, minerals and other good stuff you need to help with keeping healthy and repairing the soft tissue that has been damaged but let’s face those endorphin’s chocolate produce does help with the pain and lift the mood as explained by MedicineNet;

Certain foods, such as chocolate or chili peppers, can also lead to enhanced secretion of endorphins. In the case of chili peppers, the spicier the pepper, the more endorphins are secreted. The release of endorphins upon ingestion of chocolate likely explains the comforting feelings that many people associate with this food and the craving for chocolate in times of stress.

Many of us with osteoarthritis in weight bearing joints need to loose weight. Yes of course we need to eat healthily but as my great grandmother used to say (and she lived to 104!) “A little bit of what you like does you good”. That means as we can eat less of this chocolate to get the same anti-inflammatory effects but not the same endorphin benefits. So perhaps we will only eat a little of this new best food for arthritis.

Yeah, right of course we will!!!

Has anyone got any good recipes with chocolate? If you please add them below so we can add these to the other recipes using all different kinds of the best food for arthritis.

    A good way to eat chocolate is grind up raw, organic chololate nibs and add them to your morning smoothie. I like to start with some almond milk – but sometimes I use coconut milk – and add 1/2 ripe banana, 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, 1/8 cup ground chocolate, a couple of dates for sweetner – or sometimes a tablespoon of low glycemic agave nectar, and a good protein mix – preferably made from frermented soy, rice, and pea protein, add some whey protein – sometimes add some ground Maca – break open a capsule of vitamin C and drop it in – add your own ingredients, nutrients – a tablespoon of ground flax seeds are good. Be creative and have a healthy and delicious breakfast!

    I add two large duck eggs to a bowl , a full hand of sultanas , about 20 blueberries , one soup spoon of cinnamon , one apple and one banana mashed , the. 150 grams of oats . Then I put some coconut oil in a pan and put at full heat for 5 minutes , then flip it over for Another 5minutes . This my wife has every morning as far back as I can remember . This is absolutely delicious and so healthy .. Try it .

      It sounds a weird mixture to me but as Oscar Wilde said, “You should try everything in life once except incest and Morris dancing” so I will add these ingredients to the shopping list!It certainly has lots of things that would help OA!
